Renault Filante: Renault’s new bold international flagship
The Renault Filante marks a new phase in Renault’s global strategy. Positioned as a design- and technology-led flagship, this charismatic crossover plays a central role in the brand’s 2027 International Game Plan, strengthening Renault’s presence in Asia, the Middle East and selected global markets.
A name inspired by Renault heritage
The Filante name draws from Renault history. It recalls the Étoile Filante prototype that set speed records at Bonneville in 1956, as well as the recent Renault Filante Record 2025 electric concept, which achieved an efficiency record of 1,008 km with exceptionally low energy consumption.
The name also references Renault’s premium “Étoile” models of the 1930s, traditionally reserved for the brand’s most prestigious international vehicles.
A global flagship built in South Korea
Produced at Renault’s Busan plant in South Korea, Filante reflects the industrial and technological expertise of Renault Korea. Positioned in the E segment, it supports Renault’s move upmarket while aligning with regional market demand, where D and E segment vehicles represent over half of sales.
Renault plans to launch eight new vehicles outside Europe between 2024 and 2027, with one in three international sales expected to be hybrid or electric. Filante launches in South Korea in March 2026, followed by Latin America and Gulf States in early 2027.
Exterior design: saloon elegance meets SUV presence
Based on the Aurora project, Renault Filante introduces a new design language that blends saloon sophistication with SUV stance. Its coupé-like rear profile and sculpted bodywork position it as a premium alternative to traditional E-segment saloons.
Key dimensions:
-
Length: 4,915 mm
-
Width: 1,890 mm
-
Height: 1,635 mm
An illuminated 3D grille inspired by the Renault diamond, ultra-slim LED lighting and a flowing roofline define its visual identity. Large 19- or 20-inch wheels and a wide rear stance reinforce its confident crossover character. The Esprit Alpine version adds contrasting finishes for a sportier look.
Interior: high-tech comfort and space
The cabin is designed as a modern, connected living space. A wide horizontal dashboard integrates:
-
Three 12.3-inch displays forming the OpenR Panorama Screen
-
A 25.6-inch augmented-reality head-up display
With a 2,820 mm wheelbase, Filante offers generous passenger space. Rear occupants benefit from ample knee and headroom, while luggage capacity reaches 654 litres with seats up and 2,071 litres with seats folded.
Comfort features include a large panoramic sunroof, tri-zone climate control with air purification, and premium audio options from Arkamys or Bose with active noise cancellation.
Connected technologies and driver assistance
Renault Filante runs the latest OpenR Panorama infotainment system with Android Automotive, offering voice control, personalised profiles and over-the-air updates. Connectivity includes wireless charging, onboard Wi-Fi, multiple USB-C ports and digital key sharing.
More than 30 advanced driver assistance systems are grouped under Renault Easy Drive, supporting safer urban and motorway driving. New features include emergency collision avoidance, a digital interior rear-view mirror and child presence detection.
Full hybrid E-Tech powertrain
Renault Filante debuts an upgraded full hybrid E-Tech 250 hp powertrain on the CMA platform. It combines:
-
A 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine
-
Two electric motors integrated into a DHT Pro automatic transmission
The system delivers 250 hp and up to 565 Nm of torque, enables up to 75% electric driving in city conditions, and reduces fuel consumption by up to 50% compared with non-hybrid petrol equivalents. CO₂ emissions are rated at 106 g/km.
Final take
With Renault Filante, the brand introduces a bold new global flagship that blends premium design, advanced technology and efficient hybrid performance. Positioned in the E segment, it underlines Renault’s ambition to move upmarket while expanding its international footprint.
