Singer Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet: A Reimagined Classic for the Modern Era
Known for its meticulous craftsmanship and engineering philosophy, the California-based company restores classic Porsche 911s in collaboration with their owners, combining heritage design with cutting-edge engineering.
At the heart of the project is a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six engine producing 420 horsepower, developed with engineering partner Cosworth. The engine introduces several innovations for Singer, including variable valve timing, water-cooled cylinder heads with air-cooled cylinders, and a titanium exhaust system, allowing the engine to rev beyond 8,000 rpm.
Power is delivered through a six-speed manual transmission to the rear wheels, preserving the engaging driving experience that defines the 911.
The original 964 monocoque chassis remains the structural foundation, but it is reinforced using composite and steel elements to increase rigidity and improve handling. The bodywork is crafted entirely from carbon fiber, reducing weight while maintaining the iconic silhouette of the classic G-model 911.
A newly engineered lightweight Z-pattern folding roof mechanism provides a clean profile whether the roof is raised or lowered. Owners can also choose between a fixed rear wing or a speed-activated spoiler, inspired by the legendary “whale tail” designs of the 1980s.
Inside, Singer continues its tradition of bespoke craftsmanship. Hand-built gauges inspired by high watchmaking, extensive leatherwork, and personalized materials allow each owner to create a unique interior environment.
Every restoration is tailored to the owner’s specifications, and production will be limited to 75 commissions worldwide.
